Youth Group Games - Banana Split Feet

Here is a great idea for Youth Group Games

Banana Split Feet

I just love ice cream games for summer…don’t you? This is one that will cool you off and gross you out all at the same time. Here’s what you do.

Bring three boys and three girls up front and pair each boy with a girl. Now, set several tubs of ice cream and condiments in front of the girls that they will use to make a Banana Split. Make sure to include three flavors of ice cream, bananas, chocolate syrup, nuts, whip cream, and of course, some cherries.

Tell the crowd that the girls are going to make a banana split for their boy partner to eat, and the first team to successfully make and eat the banana split wins.

Here’s the catch. (Isn’t there always a catch?)

The girls have to make their partners’ banana splits using their bare feet! After the girls have taken off their socks and shoes, give them a countdown. The first team with every flavor of ice cream and condiment in the bowl…and then in the guy’s stomach, wins!

NOTE: Make sure the ice cream is fairly soft, else the game will flop because the girls won’t be able to get it out with their feet.

Deciding Which Resources You Need For Your Youth Ministry!

Choosing youth ministry resources can quickly become a jungle for youth pastors to struggle through. Simply deciding which materials you need can be extremely difficult. Maybe you are a new youth pastor who already feels like they are just trying to tread water. Maybe you are a veteran who is looking for some new ideas. Either way, I hope these simple steps can help you as you search for the proper materials for your students.

  1. Games- Honestly, I am like most student pastors. I go back and for on the importance or value of games. But recently I have been reminded of how games can help to build the much-needed community your students need. So any library of youth ministry resources should have a few games. PowerPoint games are a great way to start and super easy to use. Not to mention clean.
  2. Sermons- You probably have a service at some point in the week just for students. You need something to teach them. You may write your own sermons, and that is great. But why not use someone else's stuff? It does not make you less of a minister. It makes you a wise one. You only have so many hours in a day. Why not use your time on more valuable aspects of your ministry like hanging out with your students.
  3. Administrative materials- This often gets left out of the conversation when we think of youth ministry resources. But these materials are extremely important. The more organized we can be the more efficient we can be with our time. The more we can focus on things that we enjoy, things that are eternal. And again, why spend your time creating your own materials? There are plenty available online and many of them are free.

Well, those are my few thoughts. I hope they bring a little guidance as you continue to minister to your students.  For more great youth ministry resources check out http://www.youthministrytoolbox.com or click Youth Ministry Resources

Coaching for Pastors - Getting the Job Done With Excellence

There are many reasons as to why a church may want to provide coaching for pastors on their staff. When you utilize a pastoral coaching company, you will find that by having a personal coach walk through steps and strategies with your pastor, the needs of your church body will be better met and you will see an abundance of healthy growth among your staff as well as your congregation. There are a few areas that you will need your pastor to look at in order to determine if this is the right step for the growth of your church.

First of all, when you are looking into implementing coaching for pastors, it is important to take a look at exactly how they feel about the church as a whole. This means sitting down and answering tough questions such as is the church reaching its full potential and, if not, how can this be done effectively? Or, is the pastor spending too much time dealing with issues among the congregation and not having the time to properly lead? Another question may be how to equip leaders to be effective in their ministry? You may even be wondering how to get your congregation to become more involved in the ministry of the church. Once you know how you or the pastor feels, you can then determine how to make the changes needed.

Some changes that many churches across America and even throughout the world need to make are quite simple yet take some strategic planning on the pastor's part. When it comes to coaching for pastors, this is where the help really comes in to play. You will be able to put into words the vision for the church and find out ways to clearly tell the congregation about it as well as get them excited to be a part of it. When the pastor and pastors on staff are motivated to lead, those who are volunteers in ministry should see the vision and be equipped to lead as well. When people are active in ministry and feel a part, they will be more prone to give financially which will help provide resources to all ministries.

With coaching for pastors, the process will be clear and change will take place. You will be able to see your church grow numerically as well as spiritually. Your ministry teams will be effective and everything will be done with true excellence.  For More Info About Coaching For Pastors Check Out http://www.ministryadvantage.org/
